What is The Komfid Lid?

The lid is patented for its unique shape, which allows it to be used both with and without a straw.When it becomes moist, it clings to the inside of your glass. It’s not made of plastic, but from wood fiber — making it food-safe and compostable with your organic waste. The material is imported from Finland and the product is manufactured in Denmark.Bring them with you when you go out. It will make your night out both safe and secure. And this both on the bars, at the nightclubs, for the pre-party with good friends, at a festival, for a picnic with the family, on the fishing trip in a rocking boat - or anywhere else.

How does The Komfid Lid work?

Pour your desired beverage into the glass. Place the lid inside the glass with the tab facing upwards. Then press the lid down approximately 1 cm using two fingers on each side, so it sits horizontally.If you wish to use a straw, tilt the tab to the side and insert the straw. If you do not want to use a straw, simply leave the tab in place. You can drink from the drinking ribs on the lid, which are located on the side of the glass to the right of the straw tab. Try sipping gently the first few times to get a feel for how it works.

Why is The Komfid Lid smart?

You can feel safer when going out. The lid is placed inside the glass, so there’s no need to remove it in order to drink. It’s designed for use whether you prefer drinking with a straw — like a cocktail — or without, like a soda or beer. Your choice!Furthermore it decreases the risk of spilling some of your drink.

Does it fit in all glasses?

The lid is specially designed for glasses that are not completely vertical. This allows it to cling to the sides of the glass. Therefore, it fits glasses commonly used at most bars, venues, and festivals.It is compatible with GlassFORever Granity 47, reusable festival cups/Greencups 40 cl, and Greencups whisky glasses. While we cannot guarantee the lid’s effectiveness with other types of glasses, it can likely be used with glasses that have a similar top diameter.

Do you need to remove the lid every time you take a sip?

No, you don’t, that's the neat part. If you're drinking without a straw, simply use the drinking ribs on the lid, located to the right of the tab. Drinking from the ribs feels almost the same as drinking without the lid. Sip gently the first few times to get a feel for how the lid works.Once the lid is pressed into the glass, it clings to the inside and can be difficult to remove. It should only be taken out when you’re done drinking.

Is it reusable?

For your own safety, the lid should not be reused. If someone has attempted to spike your drink, the substance will likely remain on top of the lid, posing a risk of transferring it to a new drink.Additionally, the lid is made of wood fibers and should not be in contact with liquid for more than 2 hours.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Once we receive your order, it is usually packed within 48 hours. Most orders within Denmark are handed over to PostNord, who will deliver the package to your chosen address. There are a few public holidays when drop-off points are closed, but typically your order will arrive within 1–3 days.For international orders, we usually ship with DHL. Delivery times may vary slightly depending on the destination.

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition as when you received it — unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. What materials do you use?

The Komfid Lid is made from wood fiber and a bio-based binder. We chose this material because it is compostable and can be imported from Finland. This allows us to avoid plastic and reduce long-distance transportation, helping to minimize our environmental footprint.The lid is made from food-approved materials and complies with current EU regulations for food contact.

Where do your materials come from?

The materials come from Finland. This is a deliberate choice to prioritize nature and climate as much as possible. Our supplier was carefully selected based on their policies, which state that:'Sustainability is always at the centre of everything we do, from reliably, sustainably sourcing raw materials to making sure that our materials leave no permanent microplastics or toxic substances behind at the end of life.'

Where does your production take place?

Our lids are molded by a Danish manufacturer located on Zealand. We chose to produce in Denmark rather than abroad because it has the smallest climate footprint — even though production costs are often lower in other countries.

How should I dispose the lids?

Once the lid has been used and removed from the glass, it can be disposed of with organic waste. This way, it will go through industrial composting, where it is, among other things, broken down into smaller parts. The lid leaves behind no microplastics of any kind.

Will there be a reusable version of the lid?

This is something we have considered. However, reusable lids pose a challenge to user safety — including the risk of transferring unwanted substances from one drink to another. That’s why we focus on a single-use lid, which can be safely disposed of and leaves no microplastics behind.

What is drinkspiking?

Drinkspiking is when someone deliberately poisons (or ‘spikes’) you without your knowledge. This often happens when something is added to your drink — it could be drugs, but it could also be extra alcohol.According to Sundhed.dk, the most commonly used substances are alcohol, fast-acting benzodiazepines, gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), and clonidine.When you are a victim of drinkspiking, you typically lose control and free will, and your attention and memory are significantly impaired.

How widespread is the issue of drinkspiking?

At present, there are relatively few reliable studies on drinkspiking in Denmark. However, we do know that the issue is receiving increasing attention from both political and public health sectors, and that more research results are expected to be released soon.The studies conducted in or near Denmark include a Megafon survey from 2023 and a large-scale study from Berlin, also from 2023. Both studies include responses from individuals aged 18–35.The results are nearly identical: around 18% of respondents either know or believe they have been victims of drugging, while 28–29% fear being drugged.The Berlin study also examined gender differences. Among those who know or believe they have been drugged, 18% were men and 26% were women.
