Komfid at Christiansborg
Feb 19, 2025
Last week, Komfid was invited to a meeting at the Danish Parliament. Here, we had the opportunity to discuss the various challenges related to drink spiking in nightlife. We addressed, among other things, the lack of data—an issue that falls under the responsibility of health authorities—as well as the failure of nightlife venues and festivals to take accountability. The current situation is unsustainable, as it leaves guests vulnerable to assault, insecurity, and health risks, without sufficient measures in place to protect them.
In dialogue with political decision-makers, we emphasized the importance of establishing clearer guidelines and responsibilities for both nightlife venues and festivals. We proposed several initiatives to enhance safety, including an app for anonymously reporting unsafe experiences. This app would allow guests to quickly and easily report suspicious incidents while remaining anonymous and protected. By linking the app to MitID, we can ensure that reports are verifiable, helping to prevent false claims and increasing trust in the system.
"Such an app would not only provide a quick overview of unsafe locations but also automatically report incidents directly to the police and relevant authorities. This would enable swift responses to serious situations and ensure the necessary actions are taken in time," we stated during the meeting.
Additionally, we had the opportunity to present Komfid’s lid as one of several solutions to create a safer nightlife environment. The lid is a simple yet effective tool that helps minimize the risk of drink spiking by offering guests a physical safeguard. The combination of physical measures like Komfid’s lid and digital support through the app will be a crucial step towards a safer nightlife for everyone.
